House Extensions in Cornwall

Carefully managed from the structure through to the finished space.

A successful extension is about much more than adding floor area. The existing property, structural work, drainage and building services, kitchen installation and finished details all need to come together as one complete project.

GMS Building delivers carefully managed house extensions in Cornwall, with personal oversight from the early stages of construction through to completion.

Kitchen extensions

Kitchen & open-plan extensions

Extending a kitchen often involves much more than simply creating additional floor space. Opening up an existing home can involve structural alterations and steelwork, drainage, plumbing, electrical and gas services, as well as careful detailing where the new construction meets the existing building.

GMS Building can coordinate the project from the main structural work through to the internal finishes. We can also organise the kitchen installation, plastering, flooring, decorating and the finishing touches needed to bring the completed space together.

Based in Tregony, we undertake kitchen and open-plan extensions across Mid Cornwall and surrounding areas, managing the different trades and stages of construction as one coordinated project.

Coordinated construction

Managed as one complete project

An extension brings together work that must happen in the right order. Graham remains personally involved, coordinating the construction with his son and a trusted network of trades and specialists rather than leaving each part to develop in isolation.

Personal oversight

Experience carried through the whole build.

GMS Building is led by Graham Slyfield, who has lived in Cornwall all his life and brings more than 30 years of practical construction experience. His background includes hands-on building, the coordination of specialist trades and the management of complex residential work.

View Graham’s complex construction experience

GMS Building undertakes a limited number of carefully selected projects, allowing Graham to remain closely involved throughout the work. This helps maintain clear responsibility, direct communication and attention to the details that connect the structure with the finished home.

Extension projects across Mid Cornwall

Based in Tregony, GMS Building undertakes carefully managed extension and renovation projects across Mid Cornwall, the Roseland Peninsula and surrounding areas, including Truro, St Austell and Newquay.

Every extension needs to be considered on its own merits. Depending on the property, early planning may need to account for restricted access, deliveries and material storage, existing construction, ground levels and drainage, structural connections or increased exposure while the new work is made weather-tight.

  • Restricted access and deliveries
  • Ground levels and drainage
  • Existing walls and foundations
  • Structural junctions
  • Weatherproofing

A considered approach to the finished result

GMS Building is suited to clients who value planning, coordination, workmanship and personal oversight. The objective is a well-controlled project in which structural decisions, building services and finished details support the way the completed space will actually be used.

That approach places more value on a clear scope, sensible sequencing and a considered outcome than on pursuing work solely through the lowest initial figure. An early conversation helps establish what is involved, whether the timing is realistic and whether GMS Building is the right fit for the project.
